Timothy Busfield was born on June 12, 1957 in Lansing, Michigan. He potrays Cal Shanley, Technical Director on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBS).

Early LifeEdit

His mother was the director for Michigan State University Press, and his father once taught theatre arts in university. Timothy's first acting job was in a children's theater in Johnson City, Tennessee at age 18, playing Puck in a children's version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". He would complete his education in theater at East Tennessee State University. He apprenticed at the Louisville Kentucky Actor's Theatre. He also traveled and performed in Europe.

Acting CareerEdit

Red-haired, often bearded lead and character actor, Timothy was best known for bringing a playful brand of humor and a naturalistic, earnest quality to the roles that would make him famous, including Elliot Weston on "thirtysomething" and Danny Concannon on "The West Wing".

Personal LifeEdit

He lives in Sacramento California. Timothy was married to Radha Delmarter and they would divorce in the mid 1980's. They have one son together, Wilson. Timothy has since married Jenny Merwin. They have two children, Daisy and Samuel.

  • He is married to Jenny Merwin, sister of Melissa Merwin who is married to Joshua Malina.
  • He replaced Tom Hulce on the original Broadway run of Aaron Sorkin's "A Few Good Men." He later went on to work with Aaron Sorkin as a director on "Sports Night" (1998) and as Danny on "The West Wing".
